(Amsterdam Central 24/7: Season 2: Dance Capital) People The Netherlands has the busiest rail network in Europe. The gateway to the capital is Amsterdam Central Station. Every day, more than 200,000 travellers flow through the gates; from tourists from around the world to commuters. Behind this constant stream of travellers is an army of unseen heroes. Approximately 900 dedicated employees work day and night to keep the station safe, clean, and on time - from the Control Room to the service staff to the warehouse staff. The 135-year-old building is an architectural masterpiece, but it is undergoing the largest renovation in its history. Building while the station is fully operational puts extra pressure on the staff. We follow the "heroes" who ensure that everything runs on time and safely every day. Where one persons journey ends, anothers begins. Festival season has kicked off in the city, culminating in the Amsterdam Dance Event, the worlds largest electronic music festival. Around 500,000 dance enthusiasts from around the world are gathering in Amsterdam to attend the festivities. This means tens of thousands of extra passengers at the station. Safety & Service staff Menno and Baran are busy dealing with visitors who are using drugs excessively. Veteran Menno tries to keep his new colleague Baran in check when he chases a troublemaker who is under the influence. Amsterdam Central is also joining in the festivities, with various stages and a special Dance Train featuring a DJ. On board, conductor Errol is transported back to his time as a party animal.
