(Amsterdam Central 24/7: Season 2: Tourist Hotspot) Osobnosti The Netherlands has the busiest rail network in Europe. The gateway to the capital is Amsterdam Central Station. Every day, more than 200,000 travellers flow through the gates; from tourists from around the world to commuters. Behind this constant stream of travellers is an army of unseen heroes. Approximately 900 dedicated employees work day and night to keep the station safe, clean, and on time - from the Control Room to the service staff to the warehouse staff. The 135-year-old building is an architectural masterpiece, but it is undergoing the largest renovation in its history. Building while the station is fully operational puts extra pressure on the staff. We follow the "heroes" who ensure that everything runs on time and safely every day. Where one persons journey ends, anothers begins. Amsterdam attracts 24 million tourists every year. The capital is one of Europe’s leading tourist destinations. Visitors come to Amsterdam not only for the Rijksmuseum or its 165 picturesque canals, but many also for its 165 coffeeshops. Safety & Service officers Menno and Baran assist an American tourist who has fallen ill after using soft drugs. At the Ticket & Service department, Alexandra makes a game of guessing which country travelers come from. In the Lost & Found department, staff member Gusta searches for a missing backpack belonging to an American tourist. Tourists from the United Kingdom arrive at Amsterdam Central Station by high-speed train. At the dedicated UK Terminal, the team races against the clock to ensure the train to London departs on time.
