(Yukon Rescue: Season 1: End of the Road) Dobrodružný As calls for help roll in, brave and resourceful first responders must overcome a slew of threats — from avalanches and wildfires to flash floods and ferocious predators. In historic Dawson City, the volunteer-run fire department is the only line of defense for the tight-knit community. Along the Klondike Highway, a helicopter crew armed with explosives races to keep up with avalanches endangering critical access to ports in Alaska, while First Nations Land Guardians keep a watchful eye on the vital balance between species and the environment in their communities. Battling vast distances, scarce supplies, extreme temperatures and an unforgiving landscape, Yukon Rescue’s first responders put it all on the line to get the job done. On the eve of the 125th anniversary of the Dawson City Fire Department, Chief Mike and his volunteer firefighters face two emergencies that push their limits. A young boy’s mountain biking adventure takes a horrific turn, leaving him with fractured bones. Just outside of town, a vehicle goes off the road and flips several times as it plummets down a steep ravine, stopping just inches from contaminating a sensitive marshland. With no one else to help, Chief Mike needs to find a way to recover the vehicle. Near Carmacks, conservation officer Blake’s advanced firearms training is put to the test when he’s sent in to protect a group of researchers stalked by an aggressive bear in the thick brush.
