In historic Dawson City, the volunteer-run fire department is the only line of defense for the tight-knit community. Along the Klondike Highway, a helicopter crew armed with explosives races to keep up with avalanches endangering critical access to ports in Alaska, while First Nations Land Guardians keep a watchful eye on the vital balance between species and the environment in their communities. Battling vast distances, scarce supplies, extreme temperatures and an unforgiving landscape, Yukon Rescue’s first responders put it all on the line to get the job done. Avalanche technicians race to repair a remote weather station before an incoming storm. The escalating risks force them to carry out a bombing mission to flush out a dangerous buildup of snow above the Klondike Highway. Meanwhile, Dawson City is left reeling from the loss of the person they rely on the most to keep them safe. In Whitehorse, Ray embarks on a remote, high-stakes rescue mission along a snow-covered back road, only to get stuck himself as daylight dwindles and temperatures plummet. MN 12 (Canada)
