(Yukon Rescue: Season 1: Fire and Ice) Dobdodružný As calls for help roll in, brave and resourceful first responders must overcome a slew of threats — from avalanches and wildfires to flash floods and ferocious predators. In historic Dawson City, the volunteer-run fire department is the only line of defense for the tight-knit community. Along the Klondike Highway, a helicopter crew armed with explosives races to keep up with avalanches endangering critical access to ports in Alaska, while First Nations Land Guardians keep a watchful eye on the vital balance between species and the environment in their communities. Battling vast distances, scarce supplies, extreme temperatures and an unforgiving landscape, Yukon Rescue’s first responders put it all on the line to get the job done. Frigid temperatures wreak havoc on Dawson City. A midnight call to a truck fire in -30°C weather finds the crew fighting to extinguish the flames and rescue the driver. Later, the cold snap bursts pipes across town, and Chief Mike’s team must put their fears aside as they respond to a toxic gas leak. Meanwhile, Yukon communities near the Klondike Highway are cut off from supplies after an avalanche shuts down the main throughway. Avalanche technician Colin takes to the air to break up the snowpack, but when his bombs bounce off the dense, frozen snow, he’s forced to come up with a new plan to open up the road. (Canada)
