(Hitlers Last Stand: Season 6: Commandos of Comacchio) Historie Hitlers Last Stand returns, as the Allied forces land on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Western Europe. In the final chapter of WWII, bringing the fight to Hitlers doorstep will be no easy task. Nazi fanatics and diehards fight back ferociously for survival, across the strongholds of occupied Europe — in France, Belgium, Italy, and into Germany itself. These are the wars final, desperate battles, told at ground level through the soldiers who lived them: from the legendary Canadian regiment The Black Watch holding the line at Verrières Ridge, to elite officers of Britains Special Boat Service (SBS) carrying out an ambush in Northern Italy. Victory will demand courage, strategy, brotherhood—and unimaginable sacrifice. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, every man on the ground is willing to do whatever it takes. D-Day was a battle. But they still need to win the war. April 1945: After playing a key role in the liberation of the Greek port city of Thessaloniki, Major Anders Lassen and his men of the British Special Boat Squadron are deployed to support Operation Grapeshot, the final Allied push through Northern Italy. A top-secret, elite unit composed of men with a deathwish and a disdain for authority, the SBS are ordered to carry out a diversionary raid on Lake Comacchio, to draw German troops away from the main Allied assault. Braving swampy terrain with no cover, Lassen and his men land behind enemy lines where they are met with relentless machine-gun fire. Pinned down and outgunned, Lassen leads repeated assaults on enemy positions. With the lives of his men, and the fate of the broader offensive hanging in the balance, Lassen must risk it all to ensure that his daring diversion will hold. (Canada)
