In the raw, minimalist studio of photographer Sylvie Castioni, Nikita Bellucci speaks openly and without filters. A committed feminist with a deeply human perspective, Sylvie captures Nikita beyond the traditional codes of the male gaze and imposed representations of the female body. Built around an intimate, in depth interview, the film sees Nikita look back candidly on her journey, her relationship with desire, image, pornography, and the violence of other peoples judgement. Through archive footage, excerpts from some of her most significant films, and an immersion into her own sets, we discover a woman who has become a director, with a radical approach to filming bodies, sexuality and pleasure. Through the voices of the actresses who work with her, the documentary also reveals her approach to directing: demanding and precise, with a strong focus on aesthetics, consent and control of the image.
