(Hitlers Last Stand: Season 6: Deadly Escape) Historie Hitlers Last Stand returns, as the Allied forces land on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Western Europe. In the final chapter of WWII, bringing the fight to Hitlers doorstep will be no easy task. Nazi fanatics and diehards fight back ferociously for survival, across the strongholds of occupied Europe — in France, Belgium, Italy, and into Germany itself. These are the wars final, desperate battles, told at ground level through the soldiers who lived them: from the legendary Canadian regiment The Black Watch holding the line at Verrières Ridge, to elite officers of Britains Special Boat Service (SBS) carrying out an ambush in Northern Italy. Victory will demand courage, strategy, brotherhood—and unimaginable sacrifice. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, every man on the ground is willing to do whatever it takes. D-Day was a battle. But they still need to win the war. After the Allies land forces in the south of France in Operation Dragoon in August 1944, Hitler makes the surprise decision to withdraw his troops. Both sides race north: the Germans to set up a new line of resistance near Dijon, while the Allies want to cut off their retreat at a critical bottleneck north of the town of Montélimar. American Technical Sergeant Stephen Gregg ascends a hill overlooking the highway with his company when the riflemen come under fire and seven are wounded. With Medics unable to provide aid because of German fire, Gregg retrieves a .30 calibre machine gun and advances, firing from the hip in defiance of the German grenades being thrown at him. After the Medic pulls the last casualty to safety, Gregg runs out of ammunition and is captured by German soldiers. He must find a way to escape. (Canada)
