This three-part series brings to life the world of so-called witches and witch hunters, introducing the perpetrators and victims through recreations and testimony from witchcraft experts and detailing the events surrounding some of the worlds most infamous witch trials in the U.S. and Europe. What is a witch? Why did people hunt them? And how did societies tear themselves apart trying to root out such supposed evil? This special episode tells the origin story of the first major witch hunts and trials in Europe during the 16th century. Beginning with Trier in Germany, a terrifying and brutal event engulfs everyone, from lowly peasants to the richest members of society.
