Most suspects were poor women, elderly, indigenous people or disabled, unable to defend themselves. Cinematic recreations and expert interviews reveal the truth behind six terrifying true stories of witch trials in Germany, Scotland, England, America, Sweden and Ireland. Sweden remains largely unaffected by witch trials until an event known as The Great Noise sees hysteria spread across the country, driven by children telling stories of Blåkulla, a fantastical place they are taken to by witches who cavort with the Devil.
