As a Porter) Travel Adventurer and YouTuber Eva zu Beck travels to some of the world’s most remote locations in search of people who possess extraordinary skills that push the limits of the human mind and body. Venturing into Mexico’s Copper Canyon, she learns how the Rarámuri have mastered running ultramarathons on treacherous terrain. She attempts to hunt, forage and survive like the Hadzabe community in Tanzania—some of the last hunter-gatherer communities on Earth. Deep in the Brazilian Amazon, members of the Matis Indigenous community teach her how they navigate the dense forest, with no help from maps or GPS. And the porters of Mount Kilimanjaro teach Eva the secrets of carrying heavy gear up the tallest mountain in Africa. Adventurer and YouTuber Eva zu Beck has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro before. But like all who make that trek, she hiked with a team of porters who carried the tents, food and equipment needed for such a grueling expedition. Now, Eva heads back to Africa’s tallest mountain to challenge herself to get to the summit as a porter herself. But the porters on Eva’s climb are different from most on Kilimanjaro. They’re a predominantly female team who face discrimination from those who feel the job is best done by men, but they’ve persevered in order to provide for their children. As Eva hikes the high-altitude trails with these women, she learns that the source of their strength is more mental than physical.
