(Nazi Weird War Two 1: Hitlers Meth Heads) Historie Seven decades on from WW2...as living memory fades, the dark corners of the web are teeming with tales of the bizarre. Dr. Sam Willis, a UK-based historian, and Robert Joe (RJ), a Korean-American urban explorer, combine their talents to embark on a journey to set the record straight. Theyre one of the oddest partners since Mulder and Scully, and just as determined to get to the truth thats out there. Whether its reports of Nazis dabbling in the occult, the worlds worst man-eating crocodile attack, or a long-lost train carrying stolen gold, a path of twists and turns will show us that, when it comes to war, truth is often weirder than fiction. On May 10, 1940, German soldiers pulled off one of the most astonishing military operations of World War II. Thanks to the lightning war military strategy, aka blitzkrieg, the Nazis captured Belgiums most gigantic and impregnable fortress, Fort Eben Emael, in less than 15 minutes. Historian Sam Willis and Urban Explorer Robert Joe (RJ) investigate the truth behind the Nazi armys victory. Behind the brilliant military tactics, Sam and RJ discover that a performance-enhancing drug called Pervitin, an earlier version of todays crystal meth, might have been the secret weapon fueling the Wehrmacht in their march over Europe in 1940. They relive the attack of the Belgian fortress through the destruction that is still visible, and look into Germans National archive for more clues about Pervitin. When a 93-year-old Nazi veteran confirms their doubts, they start researching the risks and the effects of these "energy pills", only to find out that just as they may have propelled the Wehrmachts triumphs during the first years of war, they could as well have led to Hitlers armys downfall at the end of World War II.
