On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 took off from New York City’s LaGuardia Airport and collided with a flock of birds, causing both engines to fail. Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger and co-pilot Jeffrey Skyles successfully performed an emergency landing in the Hudson River, saving all 155 people on board.
