Positioned on Botany Bay, the gateway to the Pacific Ocean, up to 180,000 people enter the airport precinct every day. Volatile weather patterns, security breaches, technical issues, and the human element place pressure on keeping the 900 flights safely on schedule. Lightning has struck an incoming international flight. Engineers assess the damage, as passengers become increasingly impatient. High winds lead to runway closures, adding pressure to flight schedules.
